(In fact, if you are emotionally labile then you are not in touch with your true emotions.) No, feeling emotions has nothing whatsoever to do with any type of melodrama or display. You feel emotions with your heart. Your heart is meant to feel. That’ its job. Your job is to allow your heart to do its job. But because we’ve been taught and conditioned almost since birth to believe emotions are bad and wrong and a sign of weakness, then we start shutting them down. In other words, we refuse to be responsible for them. Lability is one expression of being irresponsible for your feelings. This irresponsibility could also manifest as anxiety or depression or some other so-called ‘mood disorder’. All because we’ve lost our natural ability to simply feel our feelings.
Emotions are nothing to be ashamed of. And they’re not to repressed. If you try to repress them, you’re playing a dangerous game. Florida AM University Post a job ad x Log In Email: Password: Remember me on this computer or reset password Need an account?
